Board Member Spotlight

John Osborne has been a friend to Coastal Community Foundation for many years and joined the Board in January 2017.  As Director of External Affairs for AT&T since 1999, he works with communities throughout San Diego County to educate the public about AT&T’s services, goals, infrastructure plans and helps direct people to the right resources at the company.  He has been involved with many non-profits including serving as the Board Chairman for the Encinitas and Carlsbad Chambers of Commerce, San Diego North Economic Development Council and Encinitas Rotary Club.  He also served on the board of the Mottino Family YMCA and currently is a board member of San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy and County of San Diego’s Aging and Independence Services Advisory Board.  A resident of Encinitas since 1996, John, like his father, was born and raised in San Diego.  He is an avid golfer, skier, and surfer in his spare time.

Weidner Family Fund

My wise husband Bob had great advice for me. “Evelyn, you do what you do best, let someone else do the rest.”  I’m Best at Weidner’s Gardens sharing my knowledge of plants and gardening.  Part time now that I’m finally      retirement age.

I do my Best for the Heritage Ranch Museum as we work to preserve the stories and lives of many flower growers of the area.  I give my Best to my church, Solana Beach Presbyterian ,by co-leading a small group Bible study.

When it comes to handling the money I have earmarked for my charitable giving there was no doubt in my mind that Coastal Community Foundation would be the Best organization to take care of my funds.  When my family and I decided to put our charitable funds into a Donor  Advised Fund we went for the Best place-our own Coastal Community Foundation.  I let them do what they do Best.
