Board Member Spotlight

Board Member Spotlight

Bill Berrier  is a member of Coastal Community Foundation’s Advisory Board.  Bill served as a member of the Board for nine years, including President of the Board.

Bill served as superintendent of the San Dieguito Union High School District from 1971 until June 2001.  When he retired, his wife Barbara and others  suggested that in lieu of a gift for his retirement, people could make a donation to the Bill Berrier Scholarship Fund at Coastal Community Foundation.  Over the years the scholarship endowment fund has grown considerably.  Awards are made to students who plan to become an educator.

The Berriers also established a donor advised fund at the Foundation.  Their philanthropy through scholarships and to nonprofits truly are making a difference.

Golich Family Foundation

Tom and Donna Golich, long time Solana Beach residents, established their fund with gifts of appreciated stock.  They support a wide variety of nonprofit organizations in the community.  “We own shares of a highly appreciated stock, which we have been selling annually for tax purposes.  By putting the proceeds from the sale of the stock into a donor advised fund at CCF we can distribute the proceeds in smaller amounts to a large number of charities rather than just one or two charities.  Doing this through Coastal Community Foundation is easier than through our broker.” stated Tom and Donna.
